pilgrim ponders the flame of life-----

Pilgrim imagined that embedded within all which lives there is a tiny spark, a flame, a mysterious power source enabling each and every individual life-- common to all life.

Pilgrim questions the possibility of such imagining being reality---how could that be ?

Perhaps the reality, for me, depends upon believing the imagining--thinks pilgrim--depends upon whether I believe it to be true ?

But is it possible to believe in such a manner ?

Perhaps---ponders pilgrim--the provision of such ability is some part of the mystery of the flame ?

Pilgrim decides to accept for a moment that such may be the case, that such may be true.

But is it possible to inhabit that truth--if such it is ?

Is it possible to become conscious of not simply being aware of the flame but aware also of being the flame ?

Pilgrim wonders what evidence would suggest that such awareness is possible.

What is possible to do which both transports to the flame and also transforms into the flame ?

What motivation, what choice of behaviour may result in such transcendence ?

Pilgrim continues to ponder------and stumble.

so he thinks
talking about sparks
and trying to define them
and trying to figure out how to resonate with them
is like building a structure around the spark.

He thinks it has nothing to do with the spark
other than perhaps
forming some kind of shrine
to another diety...

or maybe it is a shadow
or a reflection.

In any case it clearly
isn't actually
the spark.

anyway based on readings from times past
it seems like
building such structures around sparks
is contrary to actually allowing a spark to grow...

the way to let a spark grow
it seems
is to quit impeding its ability to grow
rather than to keep trying to fan the flames
while simultaneously limiting its growth
by building a structure around it.

but noone can do that
not even those
who realize this
as a path
that they want to pursue

The problem being,
people want to achieve goals
want to hit milestones
want to show progress
they don't want to sit around idly
letting life take its course
without progress being measured
or guarantees they can work to get
whatever it is
they've decided to want.

and the amount of control
one has to give up
the amount of uncertainty
one has to face
if one isn't going to keep fanning the flames
and trying to do things and be things
and go elsewhere
just to get ???????
and that leads ????????
it is just too much.

how do you even know
you will want to continue toward the goal
if you don't want to even try?

how can you get somewhere specific
if you don't want to create a path
to go there
and then follow it?

but he ruminates
any more
maybe that isn't the point after all

maybe we shouldn't be so sure
we want to continue to go places
that aren't all that desirable to be in
in the first place.

God asks for faith
and to him it seems to be
for good reason...
but from what he sees,
noone is able to take god up on that.

Pilgrims pondering wandered into pondering about the likely motives for pondering.

Desire to know perhaps? --if so , then why?

For need of some sort?--what need?

Fear of not knowing?

To be perceived as a source of knowledge?

Personal enhancement? Garnering kudos? Accumulating power?

Pondering becoming a means to an end in a quest to obtain personal advantage ? ---personal advantage in whatever form and by whatever means?

How to discern, how to reveal?

Pilgrim pondered that pondering which might possibly reveal/reflect truth about the whole would likely be harmonious and coherent with the concept of being of the commonality of the whole, neither elevated nor separated for any reason or by any means.

Pilgrim pondered that this possibility, these conditions would/ could be fulfilled in the coming together of cause and consequence in the mysterious power of the mysterious process of loving.

Loving as cause could result in talking the talk. Loving as consequence could result in walking the walk.

Pilgrim stumbles on. X.
