No, religion is not spiritual, the words and the teachings can only bring one to the river, but then only you can cross, when on the other side there we find what is called spirituality, teachings are no longer needed, unless you yourself want to be a teacher to point the way. Sadly many latch onto their choice of religion and never adventure further than the teachings and rituals, believing they are spiritual, and above all other denominations, these are the dead in Christ.

While religion can indeed be instrumental in "bringing one to the river", as you put it, it is certainly not "spiritual" as you duly noted.
What an awesomely concise articulate expression of the difference between religion and spirituality! I am enjoying your posts !
In keeping with the theme of this thread, however, one must be tolerant of those who are struggling to even reach the river and help them as best as possible to cross to the other side at which point they can leave the metaphorical "raft" behind.
