I'm getting fed up with the hardline VAR approach to offside. There should be a 5-10 centimeter ''grey area''. If you cross that, then disallowances at all times. If you are within the grey area however, it won't be called offside. ''Won't they try to increase the grey area next?'' Not needed, and the hard line will be more acceptable with a bit of grey area when it comes to offside. Right now it's just ridiculous. Your toe is 2 centimeter longer and you're called offside even though it's a meaningless 'advantage'.

Yay! So glad your back Altair. I have t had anyone to talk soccer with since this forum went down lol

Yeah I was ecstatic when I saw the score for Arsenal! Arteta is doing a absolutely brilliant job with that team. I just hope our injured players are back when we play them again.

Can you believe Guardiola has spent 1.65 billion since being at City. How the hell can other teams compete with that. Very unfair.

Yep totally agree with you on the offside stance.

But what angers me the most is that when players and coaches approach refs and question why something is given they get waved off and then given a yellow card if they persist.

For God sake EVERYONE is accountable in this world for your actions. Why should Refs be exempt. A lot of them are acting like mini Hitlers imo.

Why LFC got really p……d off about the Diaz case is because it was they acted a lot differently to the normal VAR procedure. The difference being that the officials broke the rules and protocol when giving it as an offside whereas other VAR incidents, even tho they were wrong, didn’t actually break protocol or rules. Personally I think they should award the point to LFC and call it a draw because of this unique situation. Imo

I also noticed last weekend when we played Brighton the Ref was “picking” every foul to bits and awarding yellow cards left right and centre for the littlest thing. Jeez what’s going on there hey? Awesome game tho and their coach is brilliant.

As you say, it’s getting absolutely ridiculous.,

Yes... I think this is a shame. It's like they're not allowed to show emotion any more, you question a ref you get a card. Silly. Players aren't robots.

Agreed. I find cricket a bit slow, though I take an interest occasionally. I have a group of mates who are fans, and it can be a handy conversation starter with taxi drivers on the way to the airport.

I have never really been a cricket fan, but I never say never. I didn’t like football until I was about 15, and then really started getting into it. I also used to say the same about rugby, until I started taking an interest around the time of the 2003 World Cup. The rugby World Cup is taking place now, and I am glued to it. With each tournament that comes, I learn that bit more about the sport.

Lovely to see you back SIrNeil.

Yeah I didn’t get into soccer until much later on as well. I only started watching it so I could have something to talk to my teenage son about (cos he wouldn’t talk much). Then I got addicted! I’m a bigger fan than him now lol

Cricket it so slow compared to watching a match where it goes back and forth and something happening every second. Just luv it.

I notice you are from London so was wondering if you are a Chelsea or Arsenal fan? Ooops I forgot Tottenham as well.

Or maybe he supports West Ham or Fulham...

I'm rooting for Arsenal to win PL.

Hi...you don't need to hint LOL.
A world cup is still a world cup and can be discussed on here.
Sadly it seems as though there are not many cricket fans knocking about !!!!!
I must confess that I don't even understand the rules as I don't watch it either. My brother loves it and his garden backs onto a cricket pitch and he sits in his deckchair in the comfort of his own garden watching all the matches .
( Do they have ladies cricket teams like they do with footy ? )
