What do posters here think of the Vedic teaching that say the soul progresses through species from fishes and plants life after life until it reaches human form and then has the oppurtunity to realise God?
In relation to material evolution a book I read some years back by I think Michael Newton claims that there are groups of workers in the between life realms that can manipulate genes here on Earth and on other planets to address inbalances that develop in ecosystems.

The piece you've mentioned is very much in line with how I understand the situation. I'm influenced by the teaching that after leaving source each individual spark of the divine creator begins an odyssey of spiritual discovery beginning with animating the simplest life forms - and maybe even experiencing inanimate ones - and very gradually progressing to animate more complex ones over innumerable incarnations. Maybe where I differ is concerning what you describe as realising God. In human form I feel we're less likely to realise God than in the other forms we experienced. Unconsciously we may know all we need to know but consciously we know very little.

He may well have claimed that and it may well be he's right - or not.....

The oppurtunity that every human has to realise god, many scriptures are there but only a small percentage of humans achieve that realisation imo, I don't think any other lifeform on Earth as anything equivlent.

For me neither scriptures nor any other kind of writings give any real impression of what God is.

It's not clear what you mean by "realising" God but my guess would be that many, perhaps most of us have little concept about what God is or what God means other than as it's taught in mainstream religion, educational establishments etc.

Well I realise you are there because I can see your posts, if I studied all your posts then I would realise more about you,I would be in a very small percentage of the human race and I am fairly certain no animal or plant could even read your posts, that's what scripture is these days, the written word.
The Vedic literature goes into depth about God and his passtimes and how to relate to him 24/7 via chanting, singing , offrering food, distribution of books and food etc.
