I have had the offer of spending Christmas with my brother and his family but I declined. I'd rather spend it on my own scoffing food all day and watching the television.

I was looking forward to a restful Christmas day with my parents - family and friends descend Boxing day.
But suddenly I find out I've been volunteered to play organ at matins tomorrow. I hope some congregation turn up! Luckily we have a Wyvern organ at home (an electronic thing) to practice the pedals.
Talk about short notice....but I'd have loved to do the midnight service.

I’m late to the party but I spent Christmas Eve alone, saw my mother and grandmother on Christmas but spent it alone at night and then alone again New Years Eve. I was dating and living with someone who I had been with the last 5+ years and she ended it the end of October, out of nowhere. 2018 she had done the same thing, around same time and again spent 2018 Christmas-NYE alone. We got back together a couple of months later.
But this year it seems a lot of people stayed home, kept company limited or spent it alone. That thought made it a little easier to deal with.
