well, most of the FUN of the magic is gone from the Harry Potters movies, very little wonder and whimsy. it's all so dark and dire and about impending doom. the kids spend 99.9% their time fretting, frowning and fighting. no fun.

Yes it's true, I'd wondered if perhaps it's because the execs had been hassling the Author, making stipulations or whatever to maximise marketability and it's come through on her subconscious. Maybe a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth ... the last two just seemed a bit disjointed to me.

I liked only the first two movies. They seemed to retain most of JK's books and spirit. The rest were either too hard to follow, or too dark. Too many really great scenes from her books have been deliberately left out... like the swamp that George and Fred made before they left Hogwarts. I hope one day some director will do a remake and do a better job to remain faithful to her books.

The only book that I read was the last one, but all the movies are cool, so I can't decide.

Out of the movies I like Deathly Hallows Part 1 the best. I've only read the first two books and out of those I like Sorcerer's Stone.

I just finished watching the Deathly Hallows part 1 and i loved it. Definitely darker, even more so than the last one i thought, but good.
Holy man has Emma Watson every grown into a beautiful woman.
And they had that Nick Cave song in there! The Hermione & Harry dance part in the tent... wow! I have always been a Nick Cave fan, i album of his and a bunch of other songs on a couple mix tapes, but strangely enough i've never heard that particular song ('O Children' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKWydA69o9E )But i recognized his voice right away.
Was trying to wait until part 2 came out on DVD or at least in theatres but i broke down today and just rented part 1.
I find it interesting considering that kids that grew up reading the first book or two, are probably coming to maybe similar ages as that of the actors that play Harry, Hermione and Ron; I wonder if their maturity level has also grown along with the movies, and their changing tone over the course of the years.
Did JK Rowling plan it that way? The first few are quite lighter, funner, less serious etc.
I love how it's all evolved actually. Can't wait for the final installment. Kind of funny that the movie was almost fresh and new to me cause i could barely remember what happened in the book lol, guess there are actually some benefits to a terrible memory.

I LOVE HARRY POTTER!!!! lol
I love all the books but so far deathly hallows 1 has been the best movie along with the first two because they followed the storyline. I wasn't too happy with the goblet of fire because they rushed through it and changed things around -_- i hate it when directors do that . . .

I loved the very first one because it had a real sense of magic to it.
The second and third ones were OK'ish, but the rest...? They just didn't do it for me. I think the last one I watched was the one where Dumbledore and Snape die near the end (but we got no funeral scene which was in the books??).
In the books, too, Harry starts becoming more and more of a drama queen with each passing book. I read all of them, but I couldn't put myself to watching all of the movies

Snape hasn't died in a movie.
