Lovely Tributes Joe.
Especially the last one.
I think there might be a lot of Christmas stockings with pogues CDs as little extras this year and I will be very surprised if "fairytale of new York " does not reach number one for Christmas this year globally.

Thank you AB, apparently Slade, Here it is Merry Christmas is slightly more popular in terms of royalties etc. I like both songs. Shane seemed to have left a very lasting positive impression on everybody who met him, a good soul. Should reach number 1, hoping to sing it today with a couple of friends as a tribute and Dirty Old Town too even though not written by Shane McGowan was made hugely popular by him. All good.

Drunk as a skunk in this one.lol A very important Irish writer and performer RIP

Yes, and Beatles have released a brand new song that flew to number one . That will be hard to beat too as it was written by John Lennon.

Bless him. Drunk as a skunk in a lot of them !
I think he will indeed rest in peace , free from his demons now, but not before he's had a few ditties with a few of em up there.
Wonder if he'll bump into Christy !

Hope your singing goes well later.

Solid Gold by Pnau. Proof that you can ‘see’ music.

The funeral of Shane McGowan , and that my friends is how you go out in style .
Thousands of mourners and his family dancing in front of his coffin in church to the band playing.
And yes, it COULD only be "fairytale of New York"...

So that's my song of the day again.
I would say rest in peace but I somehow don't think he'd be up for that.
He'll be saying
"Death isn't for resting , it's for partying ! "...
So instead I'll say "cheers me dears "....
