I'm not sure we can say anything is certain about our sun(s), but it's interesting to explore other possibilities. One common thread among most ancient myth is that the celestial 'gods' fought...a lot! Perhaps this is attempt to record in story form clashes in the skies between different planets/suns/bodies? Most myths throughout the ancient world mention a young hero (possibly Sol) defeating the old giant (Saturn?). We can't say anything is for sure, but it's certainly food for thought.

I think the stuff about gravity and the push of light is interesting.

I think the idea of the movement of planets etc just being residual energy from the big bang doesn't sound logical to me.

The sun as a kind of controller and balancing factor makes some sense, I mean you would not need much force I suppose to spin a planet that is within a thin envelope and sitting in a vacuum.
