Because suffering is caused by emotional attachment.

Is it better to just cup water in the hands or is it better to cup the water and sip and drink, either way after you cup the water in time the hands are dry again...
One way you are nourished and refreshed and the other you are not nourished, but either way the water leaves the hands...

Why not deal with the emotions and find a healthy balance and understand the nature of things...
Even the emotions will come and go...

...Peace...

Again, the idea of a choice is a strange one and I think MH made a point that shows why. If you've been been gregarious for a while, you then prefer to be alone.

It's like you want to eat, you're ravenous, but then you eat, become full, and don't want to eat any more. IOW, what you want is not chosen, but dictated by circumstances such that you are persuaded this way then that.

It refers back to breathing. No one is choosing it but it's is happening all the time. You could choose to hold your breath for a little while, but no breathing is a resistance that leads to a strong desire to breath again, but is that really a choice, or do you just get to the point where you can't hold for another second? It's more like water building behind a dam, until the dam bursts.

It's amazing how little choice is actually going on, and also amazing how things that are happening are interpreted as chosen.

@Gem

I tend to see myself nowadays in the ways of nature, the seasons, the elements, natures ways. I notice when I live in this way, I tend to myself more aware of myself living more in harmony (as molearner mentioned) with myself and life around me. I feel myself naturally attuned this way, without force or choice, but rather listening and moving naturally as a way of life. In this way the balance is lived, through active participation from within. It might appear I’m isolated and not engaging, but for me, it may mean my body is resting in the morning sunshine reading my book, gardening or creating new things that only I chose to do. People who are over engaged in one or two streams if life, probably deem me as a hermit.. lol, but in fact I’m immersed fully into life. Of course, until you understand this, you will judge stillness, solicitude and alone time as something ‘not normal’. Or if you’re over indulged with others and business you might not understand, slowness and alone time as rejuvenating or completely normal ways of living. For me personally, it’s all completely normal.

We are balance so it makes sense all things in balance keep me in track.

He experienced life in human-form and since the ego is the mental image we have of ourselves He must have had an 'ego'...
He certainly used the words 'I' and 'me' many times and had episodes of showing anger so He had a sense of self...Imo.
