Using Sage
Do any of you use sage to cleanse/clear your aura? If so, how often? Do you begin at your feet or your head? Do you run the sage on the sides of your body, or all over? Perhaps in a figure eight?

I have used it after healing people or just to get rid of negative energy. I just burn the leaves and let the smoke go all over my aura from head to toe.

I do. I usually I start at my feet and trace the outline of my body, then a cross to seal the ritual at the end.

Occasionally. It's effective. I prefer kyanite though and follow it up with selenite to replace anything removed with high frequency's. Whatever I use I do a 360 around the body following the hour hands of a clock movement and visualize the cleansing happening multi-deminsionally also. Then I do all chakra's front and back. This is usually followed by a very deep transporting meditation.

For those who can't use sage, palo santo is a good alternative.

I personally don't sage smudge in any particular body order.. as long as you cover all around the body everywhere from top to bottom or visa versa and all sides etc.. waft it all around you, over your head and don't forget to do the bottoms of your feet too.
One thing though I've found does make a big difference is the type of sage you use. I once brought a desert sage smudge stick from my spiritual shop rather then the white sage ones and found that desert sage doesn't work no where near as strong as the white sage. So I strongly suggest to only use the white sage variety. It's quite good to waft the smoke around your living space too. If I'm doing this to myself, I also always like to do my bedroom at the same time.

^^^^This... and yes, white sage is the strongest...
I prefer saging outdoors, as I don't like the smell, and I have (had) epilepsy, and then using sage isn't really recommended (it affects the central nervous system, as does rosemary. I believe neither should be used during pregnancy either). So to avoid inhaling too much, I do it outdoors when possible.
Palo Santo is indeed an alternative, I've got that too. But I don't find it to be as strong as white sage. So when it's really necessary (as in a real bad thing in my aura) I use white sage. If it's just normal negative energy or a regular cleansing, I use Palo Santo. Don't like the smell of that either, but at least it does not affect my brain. (I have in actual fact gotten unwell from white sage)

Not much. If you buy a bag, it lasts forever, unless you sage every week of course. I got lose dried sage, I just grab a little bit between 2, 3 fingers and put that on a glowing charcoal in my burner. Usually that is more than enough. It usually is still going when I'm done, so I have to put the still smoking burner outdoors till all the sage has gone.
