Incorruptibility
I was just reading about incorruptibility as unexplained phenomena tying into religious beliefs and I was curious as to whether this actually just has to do with some sort of preservation technique. I've heard of mellification but pretty much assumed it was a myth. Mellification involved someone eating honey, then being entombed in honey for 100 years until their body became a sort of candy that could be eaten for health benefits. It's an interesting concept but I can't imagine there's much basis for it outside of mythology. I was fascinated by the incorruptible corpses of saints when I was younger but now I wonder if it has to do with being preserved under wax or glass.

I'll have to read that link when I have a free moment. It does seem very fascinating, and I do know honey can have some preservative effects. But to candy a whole human corpse....?

Yeah, I think the mellification story was actually proven to be myth but it was an interesting concept.
