Its super easy to get started. Buy some ginger root from the store. I buy mine from an all natural grocery store. Soak it in water, let sit for about two hours. Than plant it in loose soil, barely covering the top of it. Takes awhile to harvest though, about 10 months.
I hear they flower, mine hasn't yet. I saw pictures of the flowers, they are beautiful!
Oh and I planted mine in a pot so I can take it outside when its nice out.

Thank you Bluebird ! I bought some ginger root today . Then I found an article about 10 reasons why you should eat fresh ginger everyday, so I decided to try some.
!! Warning !! do not slice off a piece of raw ginger and just put the whole piece in your mouth ! I did that and my mouth just burned !!
How on earth is one supposed to eat raw ginger ?

You can make tea with it, or you can grate it and mix it into stir fries or curries. But I do not think you are supposed to eat it raw.
Ginger grates quite easily.....so you could try mixing it with something else.

Another thing you can do is juice it. It's delicious with lemon and apples (all juiced). Make sure you look at a few recipes online before sticking a huge piece of ginger in the juicer - hot hot hot!!
