Books on modern history
Are there any history buffs here? I'm looking for a good book on modern history; from the 1960's onwards. Can you recommend any?
The last 50 years have been fast and furious; starting with the revolutions of the 60's. Are there any authors who can make sense of it all?

I would look up using the key words "cold war" on Amazon, that would sum up the late 1950's up until early 90's. Post world war era.
There was this really great book that I owned from undergrad called, " The Grand Chessboard" 1998, by Zbigniew Brzezinski. Lots of political theories, but focuses on History. His daughter is Mika from MSNBC Morning Joe by the way.

Amazon have thrown up some suggestions; "Modern Times" by Paul Johnson and "A History Of Modern Britain" by Andrew Marr (because that is where I live).
